How To Make Lotion Candles
Lotion (Massage) Candle Recipe and Instructions
Lotion candles, also known as massage candles, are candles that use skin-loving ingredients to soften and protect your skin instead of traditional candle wax. The concept is simple, just light your candle and let it burn for a few minutes until a wax melt pool forms. Once the wax pool forms, extinguish the flame and either scoop or pour out some of the melted wax to use on your skin. The melted wax will be warm but not hot enough to burn your skin, so it can just be massaged into any dry areas just as you would with any other lotion.
These candles can be poured into a container you would use for any normal candle. They can also be used without lighting the wick by just scoop a bit of the container and massage it into the skin. Lotion candles are great for soothing chapped winter skin!

Materials
- Melter, griddle or microwave
- Melting Pot
- Scale
- Spoon
- Plastic Cup
- Wick Bars
- Wick Tape
- Large Wick
- Tin or jar
- Burning Instruction Label

Step 1 - Materials
- Gather all materials and have a clean surface area to work
Step 2 - Wax
- Weigh and melt GW-454 wax in melting pot
Step 3 - Prepare Jars
- Prepare your jars by placing a burning instruction label on the bottom.
Step 4 - Wick Jars
- Use wick tape to apply the wick to the bottom of the jar and press down firmly
- Place on your wick bar and fold the wick over to keep it from moving around
Step 5 - Weigh & Melt Oil
- Weigh 2 oz. Cocoa Butter
- Weigh 2 oz. Avocado Oil
- Weigh 4 oz. Shea Butter
- Combine and melt butters and oils
Step 6 - Fragrance
- Weigh 0.3 oz. of Fragrance or Essential Oil and set aside
Step 7 - Combine
- Once the wax and all butters and oils are melted combine them together and stir.
Step 8 - Add Fragrance
- Let your mixture cool to 180 °F or lower and add pre-weighed fragrance or essential oil and stir.
Step 9 - Pour Lotion Candle
- Slowly pour mixture into your jar or tins.
