Cetyl alcohol is a versatile, oil-soluble thickening agent and emollient. It is typically used to thicken, condition and add opacity and emolience to creams, lotions, whipped butters and lotion bars.
These white, waxy pellets are plant-derived from RSPO Certified Palm and are added to the oil phase and heated until melted.

Suggested Usage Rate - 3-10%
Typical Usage Rates by Product Type:
- Lotions & Creams: 1%–5% (up to 8% for thicker creams).
- Hair Conditioners & Shampoos: 1%–6% to improve texture, viscosity, and slip.
- Anhydrous Balms/Butters: 5%–30% for structure and reduced greasiness.
- Makeup: 1%–3% for spreadability
- Shampoo Bars: Up to 15% as a binder.
Key Formulation Tips:
- Function: Acts as a co-emulsifier, thickener, and opacifier.
- Skin Feel: Provides a, luxurious, silky, or "velvety" feel without the drag or tackiness of waxes.
- Solubility: Oil-soluble, must be melted in the oil phase.
