Supplies:

High-Density Candle Gel (for ice cubes)

Container Wax (we used Production Single Pour)

Candle Vessel (11.5 oz. tumblers)

Pre-tabbed Wicks (Zinc, RRD or UltraCore)

Wick Sticker tape

Wick Bar

Warning Labels

Candle Dye

Fragrance Oils

Equipment:

Wax Melter or Heat source

2 Pouring Pitchers

Scissors

Mold for ice cubes

Spoon or stirring sticks

A little bit of candle math to determine how much wax and gel you will need:

Gel cubes will occupy about 50% of the candle.  Container wax is the other 50%

Example:  In a jar that holds 8 oz. of wax, you will need 4 oz. of candle gel and 4 oz. of container wax.

Instructions:  Gather everything you need first!

  • Make Gel Cubes
    • Heat Gel to 220 degrees F
    • Add scent or color if desired
    • Pour gel into the mold and let it cool
    • Peel gel from the mold and use scissors to cut the gel into cubes

  • Prepare Vessel
    • Place a warning label on the bottom of jars
    • Insert pre-tabbed wick into the straw, affix wick tape, and position the wick in the center of the jar.
    • Secure the wick at the top with a wick bar or sustainer
    • Place a few gel ice cubes into the jar to simulate ice - do not overpack

  • Prepare Waxes
    • Heat wax to 185 degrees F, add scent, and stir well.
    • Divide the wax into two different pouring pitchers
      • Leave one pitcher white for the milk or cold foam
      • Color the wax in the other pitcher, stir well, and test the color.  Keep warm (about 170 degrees F)

  • Pouring the Candle
    • Pour the white wax into the jar until it is ½ full.
      • Allow the white wax to cool until the sides of the jar are white and a thin skin forms on the surface of the wax in the candle.
    • Pour the warm-colored wax to the desired height in the jar, leaving some gel cubes exposed—this looks cool!

  • Allow candles to cool for 24 hours before covering the jar.
  • Decorate the top with a poof of cinnamon, mocha, matcha, etc. if desired.
  • That’s it - you’re done!  Enjoy your creations!
