Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Sand:
Line your plastic bin or box with a plastic bag. Add the wet sand and pack it down tightly until it’s moldable and the right consistency.

  2. Create a Mold:
Place a bowl or mold in the center of the sand and pack the sand tightly around it to create a well. This will form the shape of your candle.

  3. Melt the Wax:
Heat your paraffin wax to 220°F. Once it’s melted, add your fragrance oil (up to 1.5 oz. per lb. of wax) and any color dye if you want to add a fun touch to your candle.

  4. Remove the Mold:
Carefully take the bowl or mold out of the sand once the wax is ready.

  5. Pour the Wax:
Slowly pour the hot wax into the well that your mold has created in the sand. Let it settle into place.

  6. Add the Wick:
After the wax has cooled slightly, place the wick in the center of the wax.

  7. Let it Cool:
Allow the wax to cool completely. If the wax settles or there’s space, you can top it off with a little more wax.

  8. Remove the Candle:
Once the candle has fully cooled, gently lift it out of the sand and brush off any excess sand from the sides.

  9. Seal the Sand:
To seal the sand and give your candle a smooth finish, heat some unscented and uncolored wax to 200°F. Dip the candle in the wax to coat the sand.

  10. Add More Sand (Optional):
If you’d like a thicker layer of sand on your candle, mix sand with some melted wax to make a thick "slushy" consistency. Use a spoon or spatula to apply this mixture to the outside of your candle.

  11. Final Cooling:
Let the candle cool completely before you enjoy it!

Enjoy your beautiful, beach-inspired sand candle! It’s a simple and fun craft that’s perfect for summer, and you can make as many as you like!
