Soap Formulating 101 is designed for beginners who want to understand how recipes work without jumping straight into full-from-scratch formulation. If SAP values, lye discounts, water discounts, and lye calculators feel overwhelming, you’re in the right place.
In this class, we’ll break down the basics of soap formulation in a simple, approachable way. You’ll learn how to use a lye calculator, understand what those numbers actually mean, and safely adjust an existing recipe to include different oils or butters.
Rather than starting from a blank page, students will begin with a tested base recipe and learn how to:
